The need to give is bigger than ever before.
GiveBIG Washington is a special annual fundraising event that supports local nonprofits. This year’s edition is a two-day opportunity on May 5th and 6th to help your favorite charitable organizations. GiveBIG Washington, which is organized by 501c3 charitable organization 501 Commons, provides nonprofits the opportunity to raise funds online and connect with new donors. GiveBIG allows nonprofits to raise unrestricted funds online, acquire new donors, and encourage deeper engagement of current supporters. Many nonprofits will be offering matching gift funds, matching donor’s gifts $1 for $1. In 2019, 62 animal-related nonprofits participated in GiveBIG, raising $488,561.97 for Washington State animals and the people that love them. For 2020, 82 animal nonprofits are registered, including Chimpanzee Sanctuary Northwest, Canopy Cat Rescue, Everett Animal Shelter, Feral Cat Spay/Neuter Project, Puget Sound Goat Rescue, Save a Forgotten Equine, Homeward Pet Adoption Center, Seattle Area Feline Rescue, Motley Zoo Animal Rescue, PAWS, WASART, Emerald City Pet Rescue, MEOW Cat Rescue, and Seattle Dogs Homeless Program. In 2019, 20% of GiveBIG’s donors were first-time supporters – and we’re hoping that 2020 will bring in even more first-timers.
“GiveBIG has been a really exciting and rewarding time to be able to learn and grow as we go,” explained Camille Rochester, GiveBIG Washington Campaign Manager. “Smaller animal-serving organizations do really well with GiveBIG. This campaign helps nonprofits amplify their strengths.”
Donors don’t have to limit their donations to one organization, either. “Prior campaigns have shown that donating to several nonprofits’ fundraisers provides more support for everyone,” Camille explained. “By helping more organizations, we’re all benefiting together.”
